Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She is a founder of The Huffington Post and the CEO of Thrive Global. Author of over 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a journalist and television host, as well as philanthropist as well as the founder and editor of The Huffington Post. When she moved to England from Greece when she was 16 She earned an MA with a major in Economics from Cambridge University. In her 21st year, she was president of the renowned debate club The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign student to do so. In the years following after her college graduation, she was a well-known Conservative syndicated journalist. After a few years after that she launched The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current political scene. She was able to get several prominent contributors who posted their thoughts on culture and politics. Arianna rose to fame in 2003 after she decided to contest for a non-partisan position during the California recall vote to succeed the Governor Davis. Additionally she was the leader of the Detroit Project for fuel-efficient cars. Forbes listed her as the top female in the media industry in 2009. Her ranking was at 12th place on their list. The Guardian also included her to the list of top 100 media outlets in the year 2009. AOL acquired The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. Then she was appointed the president of the AOL media group. The group included several AOL-owned properties, such as Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. The parents of her were Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, a management consultant and journalist. Even though she was close to her father, her connection to her mom was the defining factor in the rest of her life. As a child, she showed leadership traits which she is still renowned for. When she was 16, she moved from America to United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. While in college she joined Cambridge Union, a college debate group. Being the third woman president and first foreigner, she served as the head of Cambridge Union. In 1972, she graduated with an MA in Economics. After graduation, she began working as a columnist critic and as a host on television. She also appeared in the series Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books taking editorial help from him.
